The Tirupati Venkateshwara Temple is considered one of the holiest places for Hindus and is even referred to as Bhuloka Vaikuntam, or the abode of Lord Vishnu on Earth. A visit to the temple is believed to change your life and destiny. No wonder the temple attracts millions of devotees yearly, with queues said to be miles long. Thankfully, you don’t have to travel to Tirupati to seek blessings from Balaji. The temple’s Devasthanam board consecrated the Kanyakumari Tirupati temple to ensure people who cannot make the arduous journey to the Seven Hills can seek the blessings of Lord Venkateshwara. It is part of the board’s plan to consecrate Tirupati Balaji temples worldwide, with three temples in Bengaluru and one each in Jammu and Chennai. There are also plans to establish a temple in Kolkata.
If you’re visiting Kanyakumari, and planning to visit the temple, here are a few things you must know, including Kanyakumari Tirupathi temple opening timings, pooja timings, dress code, and contact details:
However, the temple closes at different times on different days of the week. While it closes at 7 pm on Sundays, 11.30 pm on Mondays, and 8 pm on Tuesdays to Fridays. On Saturdays, it closes at 6.45 in the morning, only to reopen at 9.30 am, and then closes as usual at 8 pm.
The temple follows the same pooja timings as the Tirupati temple. You can either refer to the Tirupati temple’s pooja timings mentioned on the temple website or call the temple officials for more information. Or, you could contact us if you’re planning a special pooja for a loved one. We can help you with temple timings and special darshan timings as well.
Devotees are expected to dress modestly when visiting the temple. While men must wear dhoti or pyjamas and cover their upper body, women are advised to wear sarees, half sarees, or churidars with dupatta.
The main deity of Lord Balaji at the Kanyakumari Tirupati Temple looks the same as it is in Tirupati. Also, the temple is designed such that sunlight directly falls on the foot of the idol on the first day of the Malayalam month of Medam, i.e., around April 14th.
The view from the temple is amazing. Don’t miss the panoramic view of the Indian Ocean, the Vivekananda Memorial, and the Thiruvalluvar Statue from the top.
Also, the temple is divided into two floors, with separate sanctuaries for Lord Balaji, Padmavathi Amma, and Garuda Bhagawan on the upper floor. The lower floor contains the kitchen, residential quarters for the priests and the Sahasra Dipa Akarakan Mandapam.
